What EE Business is
EE Business is the business mobile arm of BT Group. It sells business plans and SIMs for phones, tablets, laptops and watches, mobile broadband and a range of business services built around them.
EE Business has two main routes for customers:
- Up to 100 employees: sole traders, limited companies and public sector organisations with up to 100 employees
- More than 100 employees: larger organisations, with tailored roaming bundles and managed and professional services
Business customers manage their lines online through Mobile Manager, where you can see usage, manage spend caps and handle day-to-day changes.
We supply EE Business. Plans and allowances depend on your lines and term, so ask us for a quote. For more on EE Business contracts, see the EE Business pages on Forever Group, or contact us for a quote.
The EE Business network and 5G+
EE Business brands its 5G Standalone network as 5G+. Standard 5G uses 5G radio but still relies on a 4G core network; 5G+ runs on a fully standalone 5G core. EE Business describes the result as faster speeds, lower latency and better performance in busy places, and says 5G+ can also help extend phone battery life compared with standard 5G.
A few things to know before you plan around 5G+:
- You need a 5G+ compatible phone and SIM, and you need to be in a 5G+ area. Check each device before you order if 5G+ matters to you.
- Fast Lane is a feature EE Business includes on eligible plans. It uses 5G+ network slicing to give your connection priority when the network is congested, for things like taking card payments at a busy event or joining a video call in a crowded transport hub. It only works in 5G+ areas.
- Coverage varies by location, so check the postcodes that matter to you with EE Business's coverage checker and test indoors where your people work. Our guide to business mobile coverage explains how.
Wi-Fi Calling lets EE Business phones make and receive calls over Wi-Fi where the mobile signal indoors is weak. For buildings with poor signal, EE Business also lists indoor coverage solutions. For more on 5G Standalone generally, see 5G for business.
Plans and spend control
EE Business plans work with phones from Apple, Samsung and other manufacturers, plus tablets, laptops and watches. We focus on getting the airtime right, so you can buy devices separately and refresh them when it suits you. Our sister site also covers business SIM only plans.
The features that matter most to businesses are usually about control rather than headline allowances:
- Spend caps. Set a limit on charges beyond the plan, get alerts as a line approaches it, and adjust or remove the cap at any time. Larger teams can use the Bill Protector feature and usage tracking across the fleet.
- eSIM. Activate lines remotely on compatible devices, with no physical SIM to post or swap. See business eSIM.
- Roaming options. EE Business offers roaming options for smaller businesses and flexible bundles for large businesses, tailored to how often staff travel. See business roaming; roaming terms are confirmed at quote.
- Device recycling. EE Business offers device recycling as part of its device lifecycle management.
- Mobile Manager. One online account for usage, bills, spend caps and line changes.
For how business contracts work in general (terms, credit checks, adding and removing lines), see business mobile phone contracts and business mobile phone plans. For the EE Business contract specifically, see Forever Group's EE Business contract page.
Is EE Business the right fit for you?
We will check it against your systems and requirements and recommend the right option.
Device enrolment and management
EE Business can enrol the devices you buy into the enrolment platform you use, so they are tied to your organisation from the moment they are unboxed. EE Business names Apple Business Manager, Android zero-touch enrolment and Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment; once your MDM is linked to the platform, the devices appear in your mobile device management (MDM) console automatically. For Apple Business Manager, EE Business also offers Facilitated Enrolment, where it creates the Apple Business Manager account on your behalf.
When enrolment is set up, a new phone switches on, connects to your MDM and pulls down its settings, apps and security policy without IT having to configure it by hand. That makes onboarding faster and means a lost or stolen phone can be locked or wiped remotely. EE Business also offers device management tools from vendors including Jamf and Samsung, plus device lifecycle management and data management services for larger estates; see Jamf with EE Business and Ivanti with EE Business.
Enrolment connects to your MDM. Forever Group can supply and set up Microsoft Intune, and we can supply other MDM software such as Sophos Mobile and IBM MaaS360. Our guides to mobile device management and security and zero-touch enrolment explain the options, and we can help set it up.
Security, calling and collaboration
EE Business lists several services that sit on top of the phone line:
- Mobile threat defence: protection for phones and tablets against threats from phishing to man-in-the-middle attacks. EE Business names options including Jamf Threat Defence, Ivanti Mobile Threat Defence and Akamai Secure Internet Access, which works at network level without an app on the device. We can also supply mobile threat defence such as Lookout and Check Point Mobile Security; see mobile device management and security.
- Data VPN: a private, managed connection between mobile devices and your company network, without complex software on each device.
- Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile: lets a mobile number work as the user's Microsoft Teams number. See Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile on EE Business.
- Mobile Voice Recording and messaging services: network-based recording of calls and texts, and business messaging. See EE Business Mobile Voice Recording.
- IoT SIM cards: hard-wearing SIMs for connected technology, such as sensors and card machines, rather than people.
Which of these you need depends on your sector, your compliance obligations and the systems you already run. We can help you work out what is worth adding.
Switching to EE Business and keeping your numbers
You can usually keep your existing mobile numbers when you move to EE Business. The UK switching process works the same way for business lines:
- Text PAC to 65075 from each phone to get a Porting Authorisation Code, valid for 30 days. Text INFO to 85075 first if you want to check any charges for ending your current contract.
- Give the PAC codes to us, or to EE Business, when you place the order.
- EE Business ports the numbers. It says requests made before 17:30 on a working day are ported on the next working day, and there can be a short break in service while a number moves.
- If you want a new number instead, text STAC to 75075 to leave your old provider without porting the number.
EE Business also notes that if a number has been disconnected, you need to give the PAC to your new provider within 31 days of disconnection or the number is lost. For a step-by-step guide covering credit checks, devices and set-up, see how to get a business mobile phone contract.
How we help with EE Business
We supply EE Business lines and help you set them up properly. That means talking through how your people work, checking coverage at your sites, checking your devices, arranging number porting and setting up eSIM, device enrolment and your MDM.
Pricing depends on the number of lines, the plans and the term, so we confirm it at quote. For EE Business pages aimed at particular sizes of organisation, see Forever Group's guides for small businesses, corporate customers and large businesses.
